“The right target for mugging little old ladies and for carbon dioxide emissions is zero.”

15 Feb 2010

“It’s wrong to mug little old ladies, and it’s wrong to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere,” says climate scientist Ken Caldeira in Jeff Goodell’s upcoming book How to Cool the Planet.

“The right target for mugging little old ladies and for carbon dioxide emissions is zero.”

Caldeira, based at the Carnegie Department of Global Ecology, is brilliant and always has interesting things to say, and comes up with surprising findings.

I’ve talked to him, or talked about his work, in several of my articles and blog posts, all re-posted here on Failing Gracefully.
